Cholesterol Gatekeeper

"CZ™," developed
by Eugene Science, Inc. is the world's first
water-soluble, |
| |
cholesterol-lowering food additive. CZ™ is
a natural plant sterol extract, |
|
| |
derived from being absorbed into the
intestines. |
| |
There are two kinds of cholesterol : the high density
lipoprotein(HDL), which is good |
| |
for one's health, and the low density lipoprotein(LDL),
bad cholesterol, which can |
| |
clog blood vessels and arteries. CZ™ effectively
blocks cholesterol from being |
| |
absorbed in the intestine, thus preventing any accumulation
of bad cholesterol in the |
| |
blood and expelling it from of the body. |
| |

Made of natural plant sterol compounds, CZ™ is safe
to use and has no bad side |

effects, as shown by the fact that the FDA has granted
it the status of a |
| |
GRAS(generally recognized as safe) substance; its
typical dietary consumption rate |

is 250mg/day. In addition, NIH (National Institute
of Health) guidelines (May,2001) |

recommended the intake of certain foods that contain
plant sterols to reduce |
| |
LDL-cholesterol levels significantly. Also, phytosterols
was approved by the |
| |
Korean Food and Drug Administration as a cholesterol-lowering
active ingredient in |

June 2005. |

Meanwhile, conducting through market research of
cholesterol, Eugene Science |
| |
developed an easy-to-consume cholesterol-lowering
beverage, "CholZero™," |
| |
which contains CZ™ as its main ingredient. After
eight weeks of CholZero™ intake, |
| |
serum concentrations of total cholesterol and of
LDL cholesterol were |
| |
reduced by 9.2% and 14.1%, respectively . However,
the levels of HDL cholesterol |
| |
and triglyceride did not change significantly. |
| |
`CZ™ can be formulated into various consumer beverage
and foods, so the |
| |
company intends to develop other lucrative cholesterol-lowering
products, |
| |
expanding the CZ™ product line to include salad
dressing, margarine, mayonnaise |
| |
and butter. Eugene Science also released various
food items containing CZ™ such |
| |
as cooking oil, dietary supplement, healthful rice
and seasoned laver. In 2003m the |
| |
company signed a distribution agreement for its
health oils, "Chol-Free Oil™," with |
| |
Amway Korea. Several health-function food products
which contain CZ™ as a main |
| |
ingredient will be launched and marketed in Korea
next year by important |
| |
companiesincluding Korea Ginseng Corp., the world
famous manufacturer of |
| |
ginseng products. |

Overseas, Eugene Science reached an agreement in
2002 with Hokuyo Koeki to |
| |
distribute CZ™ in Japan. Since then, several products
containing CZ™ have |
| |
been sold there, including the fermented soybean
drink Chukyoiyakuhin(中京醫藥品). |

Eugene Science also concluded a strategy alliance
in 2004 with Archer Daniels |
| |
Midland Company(ADM), which markets CZ™ in North
America and Europe as |
| |
part of the CardioAid family of phytosterol ingredients.
In addition, CholZero™ |
| |
Capsule products are to be sold by Nutra Nano Tech
in the United States in 2006. |
